We get a lot of celebrities coming through the TODAY doors (George Clooney, Lady Gaga, Richard Simmons…), but this morning’s guest really takes the (wedding) cake: Princess Diana’s iconic dress.

The taffeta-drenched piece of royal history, in all its 25-foot-train glory, was live in Studio 1A, having come directly from Grand Rapids, Michigan as part of a Princess Diana exhibit (next stop, Kansas City!). Like most celebrities, the dress comes with its own security, and only three people – including our guests, art handlers Nick Grossmark and Graeme Murton – were actually allowed to touch it. The dress technically belongs to Prince William and Prince Harry, but is currently in the care of Diana’s family, the Althorp Estate. Take a look at the famous gown:
